Birds’ Nest Orphanage in Jbeil, Lebanon, has been home to thousands of Armenian children in the Middle East region for more than 100 years. Today, Birds’ Nest houses healthy children between 6 months and 17 years old. Birds' Nest Orphanage was founded by Maria Jacobson, who was known by Armenians throughout the world as MAMA. Today, Birds' Nest operates under the auspices of the Catholicosate of Cilicia and His Holiness Aram I. The institution provides boarding and education, spiritual guidance, and encouragement to help build self-sufficiency in preparation for life and integration into society. The orphanage is open to all children who come from broken families and are in need of care and compassion. 

Kindergarten classes are conducted at the orphanage and elementary and intermediate school aged children are driven to school on the orphanage bus. The orphanage has a high standard for nutrition, making sure that the children are receiving the daily recommended and essential vitamins for their healthy growth. The children participate in drawing, handicraft and Sunday school lessons, have picnics and playground time, attend musical concerts, theater, movies, and other performances to maintain a good balance of leisure and activities.

Birds' Nest Orphanage has a permanent nurse to assess the health of the children, but they also receive regular medical, dental, and eye examinations.
