An Emergency Campaign for Assistance to the Orphaned Children of Armenian Evangelical Boarding School and Birds' Nest Orphanage in Lebanon

A MESSAGE FROM REVERAND HAGOP AKBASHARIAN

Suddenly we are in war . . . More than 2,000 deaths, many more injured, 1 million people displaced.
Every other day we receive a warning to leave the Beqaa in 2hrs. It is quite difficult for us to decide if we should evacuate and take the children to Beirut or stay knowing that Ainjar is relatively safer than elsewhere. We decided to stay.

To this point, we have suffered no physical harm, despite hearing airstrikes and feeling earthquakes in neighboring areas a few minutes away from Anjar. We have received displaced families who need food and shelter. It is sad to experience once again the corruption of suppliers that have already started abusing the situation by raising the prices of food, medication and basic general needs.

Our immediate needs are twofold:
  1. Funds for food and short-term humanitarian supplies for the Lebanese families we are sheltering.
  2. Funds for psychosocial support to the 80 children at AEBS to address the trauma of hearing the strikes of war and constantly listening to distressing news. These young minds need emotional care and counseling from trained professionals to process their fears and anxieties in a healthy way.

We have estimated $10,000 for this emergency campaign. All funds received will be wired to AEBS in full and earmarked exclusively for these requests.

May God have mercy and give us patience and wisdom to take care of our boarding children and also those who need help and shelter,

Rev. Hagop Akbasharian

A MESSAGE FROM REVERAND FATHER DAJAD ASHRKIAN

Dear Mr. George S. Yacoubian
SOAR
Birds Nest Orphanage
Jbeil, Lebanon

Dear George,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to address the pressing needs of the Birds Nest Orphanage in light of the current economic and wartime conditions in Lebanon. As you are aware, the ongoing instability has severely impacted many families and children, exacerbating the challenges faced by orphanages and care facilities.
The economic crisis has led to increased poverty levels, making it difficult for many to provide basic necessities such as food, clothing, and healthcare. The influx of displaced families and the rising costs of living further strain our resources, placing additional pressure on organizations like the Birds Nest Orphanage.
Given these circumstances, I kindly request support for the orphanage to help cover essential expenses. These include:
  1. Food Supplies: Ensuring that all children have access to nutritious meals.
  2. Medical Care: Providing necessary health services and medications for the children.
  3. Educational Resources: Supporting educational programs and materials to facilitate learning.
  4. Safe Shelter: Maintaining a secure environment for the children.
(An estimated $10,000 for the above needs)
Your assistance would make a significant difference in the lives of the children at Birds Nest Orphanage, offering them hope and stability during these tumultuous times.
Thank you for considering this urgent request. I would be grateful for any support you can provide, whether through financial contributions or resources. Together, we can help ensure that these children receive the care and support they desperately need.

Warm regards,
Prayerfully
Rev. Father Dajad Ashekian
Dean
