Family History: Artur comes from a socially vulnerable family – he is one five brothers. Because of social and financial issues, Artur’s father left for Russia to find work to earn money for the family. After a short period, he came back with serious health problems, which prevented him for working. The only member of the family who works is his mother, who earns $136/mo. with the geochemical laboratory at Gyumri Seismic Protection Section. In school Artur excelled in physics, and his teacher did her best to motivate him in this direction. He hoped to enter Yerevan Medical University, but, knowing his financial limitations, he kept this dream for the future to himself. After finishing school, he entered Gyumri Polytechnic Institute to learn production of cycle management. Artur chose this section because of the high demand in this profession. Becuase of his extremely high exam scores, Artur was able to study for free his first year. This year he needs to pay for his education.

Medical History: Artur has nervous system and skin rash problems.

Special Interests: Artur has an enormous interest toward the natural sciences and medicine. He is interested in eye surgery and wants to obtain a master’s degree at the Medical University. He also hopes to take English classes and eventually volunteer with SOAR’s Mobile Eye Project.
